Wendy Thompson

Wendy is a self taught artist and Montessori teacher who owned and operated her own private preschool for ten years. An integral part of the Montessori program is a emphasis on the great painters. It was during this time that Wendy developed an interest in the painters, Vincent Van Gogh and Kandinsky to mention a few. As a member of Arts Underground Wendy has taught various adult art classes as well as teaching children’s classes for Artist in the Schools. Starry Nights Under the Midnight Sun and Sun Flowers Under the Midnight Sun was developed to teach children about the life of Vincent Van Gogh. This year Wendy will be adding a new class entitled Ravens Under the Midnight Sun.
More recently Wendy has taught for the Artist Up Front Festival celebrated each July on the wharf along the beautiful Yukon River. Wendy had the great honor, in February 2016, of having her painting Rock and Rolla, selected by the Yukon Government for it’s permanent art collection. Wendy also had an invitation to submit her artwork to the prestigious ’ Parallax Art Festival, held in London, England in Chelsea Manor in October.
