Kids Can Can Class! with Rebecca Reynolds and Kate Fitzgerald

Have your students learn the Can Can and other Ragtime favourites! Rebecca Reynolds of Velvet Antler Productions is known throughout the community as Big Kicks Becky and the face of the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Can Can Dancers! Classes include dance warm up, locomotor skills suited to the age group, and can can based choreography.     
Kate and Rebecca are dedicated to the Yukon Community and are always looking for opportunities to help nurture and support Yukoners of ALL ages. Combined, Kate and Rebecca have been involved in the YSR Cancan Line for 10yrs and several of the local dance schools for over 15 yrs
It is our dream, along with YSR, to one-day develop a Junior Cancan Line! Our main goal is to instill confidence by giving them the tools to do something that they maybe never thought was possible, but also as a way of including more kids in Rendezvous festivities.

Rebecca Reynolds and Kate Fitzgerald

Rebecca Reynolds is the Principal and ballet master at the Northern Lights School of Dance.  She began her Cecchetti Ballet training at the age of 3 at the Red Deer School of Ballet under the instruction of Irene Weatherilt. She began teaching at age 14 and went on to obtain her Dance Diploma from Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton. Rebecca joined the cast of the Frantic Follies in Whitehorse in 2000-2006 working her way to the show’s choreographer. She is particularly interested in sharing the benefits of dance to young boys where students are focus on jumping, turning and a masculine movement. style along with the strength and agility required in addition to camaraderie and teamwork.

Kate Fitzgerald has been a teacher and choreographer in the Greater Toronto Area for over ten years. She has completed a degree in kinesiology, where she studied movement and the human body extensively. Since then Kate has created unique and inspirational dance pieces for festivals, charity events, school teams, and many competitive dance companies. She has also created routines for synchronized swimmers, gymnasts, cheerleading teams, figure skaters, and wedding parties. Kate recently completed her education degree in physical education and dance which has led her to work within many different schools teaching dance curriculum on a variety of levels.
